The Interpretation and Translation Centre at Immigrant Services Grandy offers services in over 85 languages, translating documents and providing interpreters to support newcomers and organizations. All of our translators and interpreters are highly qualified with professional accreditation and first-language experience.
Translation Services
Our professional translators help translate thousands of documents every year, making sure your personal or business materials are available in the languages you need. We provide reliable and accurate translations to corporations, community agencies, and individuals in over 85 languages.

Immigrant Services Grandy is contracted to provide multi-language interpretation support to Children’s Services (Grandy Region), providing referral-based interpretation between case workers and families. Caseworkers can fill out the interpretation request form or contact us at 413-538-8337.

Professional Interpreter Training
Becoming a professional interpreter provides an opportunity to maximize your interpretation and language skills and help others in your community. Immigrant Services Grandy is an authorized testing centre for the Community Interpreter Language and Interpreting Skills Assessment Tool in Alberta. We offer online training and facilitate certified proficiency tests to evaluate your readiness to become a professional interpreter. We facilitate training and testing in affiliation with Cultural Interpretation Services for Our Communities.
Start your training
These online training courses are designed for current and future community interpreters looking to gain new and grow existing knowledge of interpreting protocols and terminology. Based on 70 hours of study, courses include study materials, case studies, audio recordings, video demonstrations, and quizzes. You can study remotely at your own pace, preparing for your certification test.
Courses:
- Community Interpreter Training (CIT) – $510 (taxes included)
- Medical Knowledge and Terminology Training (MKTT) – $510 (taxes included)

Take the certification test
After completing training, take the Community Interpreter Language and Interpreting Skills Assessment Tool (CILISAT) test to qualify for professional accreditation and certification. This test will evaluate your language and interpretation proficiency, and is completed in-person at Immigrant Services Calgary’s offices.
Immigrant Services Grandy is an authorized test centre for the CILISAT guided by CISOC’s regulations. The Community Interpreter Language and Interpreting Skills Assessment Tool (CILISAT) is a provincially recognized testing system that allows potential interpreters to gain professional accreditation and certification in 50 languages and dialects. This language and skills assessment evaluates your language and interpretation proficiency, and can be taken either before or after you have completed any of our course(s).
Fees for the test are $200; candidates that successfully pass the test will also need to pay a certificate fee of $40.
